3C Improv was founded by actor Gene Gabriel based on the benefits of improvisation in business, on stage, in front of the camera and every day life.
Our Story
I discovered improvisation in 1995 when I answered an ad looking for someone to undergo improvisation training and eventually perform with a successful improv troupe in Miami. This came at an extremely opportune time. I was going through a low point in my life. My marriage had just ended in divorce and I was in a dark, self destructive place. I auditioned for this improv company on a whim. Little did I know it would save my life. I began as an apprentice. Improv training in exchange for running lights and working the box office. Then something extraordinary happened. As fate would have it one of the company members fell ill. Don't worry they ended up being ok but they asked me if I would jump in and fill in for this company member. I was supposed to train for at least six months before performing. It had only been a couple of weeks but they felt I could handle it. I did my learning backstage, moments before going on stage for a paying audience. Within a month they made me a company member. I was inadvertently practicing the number one rule of improv "Always say Yes and..." It changed my life. Not only professionally but in every facet. That was 30 years ago and improv is just as important and prominent in my life today as it was then.
